Westlake Elementary offers enriching and fun environments that students can enjoy, and a stress-free, high-quality program that parents can rely on. You can choose from options that range from the less structured pace of Child Care to the more structured opportunities available in the After School Enrichment Program. All After School Programs are offered on a per semester basis. Each semester coincides with the half way point of the academic calendar. On this page you can find After School Enrichment registration information and class schedules. Forms can be printed online, or if you do not have access for printing, extra forms are available in the school office. All classes and programs are held at Westlake Elementary.

Child Care

Our goal is to serve parents who need Child Care before and after school, including Kindergarten Enrichment. Our mission is to encourage the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of the children who participate. Our caring and qualified staff provides a safe, nurturing on-site environment that is designed to help all children feel successful. Art

Children who learn to draw using the Young Rembrandts method develop spatial reasoning and fine motor skills, order and sequencing abilities, visualization, and self-discipline as well as fundamental art skills. Young Rembrandts partners with pre-schools, elementary schools and community centers to either augment or supply their art education programs. Young Rembrandts has a solid reputation for offering well-organized classes and teaching original, high quality curriculum in a positive environment. Dance

Sky High Dance is an organization devoted to enriching the lives of children through dance. We teach creative movement and Hip Hop to both boys and girls from K – 8th. Students that participate in our program learn stage directions, learn how to count to beats and rhythm, recognize movement progressions and choreography patterns. Music – Chorus

The Elementary Chorus Program is held in two semesters and runs for the entire year. Students will perform throughout the year with a final performance at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Junior Chorus is for students in 1st and 2nd grade. Senior Chorus is for students in 3rd through 5th grade. Chorus meets once a week for at least half of an hour, generally after school.


Music – Band

Elementary Band begins in the 4th grade and students may choose from flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone or percussion. Advanced Elementary Band is for 2nd year musicians who play flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone or percussion. Group band classes meet twice a week for a half of an hour during the school day.

 

Music – Strings

The Elementary Strings Program begins in the 3rd grade and students may choose from violin, viola, or cello. The Intermediate Elementary Strings Program is for 2nd year musicians who play violin, viola, or cello. Group classes meet twice a week for a half of an hour during the school day.

Academic Chess

The program brings a team of instructors, chess books, prizes, and years of experience to Westlake Elementary each week for this 1 hour chess club. Kids learn chess strategies, chess openings, solve chess diagrams and puzzles. A one hour chess class would consists of 30 minutes of chess lesson and 30 minutes of playing time. MatheMagic 

By combining the cool skills of Magic with the brain-teasing aspects of Math, instructors create an intellectual and entertaining activity that not only enhances students' problem solving, logic, and lateral thinking skills, but also teaches them that Math can be fun! Woodworking

TGA Premier Junior Golf

Volleypop Youth Volleyball

Volleypop brings youth development and volleyball skills and instruction to youth 5-14 years old. Youth succeed when they participate in physical activity.
