KINDERGARTEN
ROUNDUP will take place the week of February 6-10, 2012. You may pick up a
registration packet at Westlake Elementary beginning January 30, but
registration will not be accepted until February 6.
Informal informational meetings and tours will be held for incoming and prospective parents from 9-10am on Thursday, February 16th and Friday, April 20th.
NEW
KINDERGARTEN AGE REQUIREMENT FOR 2012-13
The
Kindergarten Readiness Act of 2010 (SB 1381) changed the required birthday for
admission beginning in 2012-13. For
the 2012-13 year, your child must be 5 years old on or before November 1. For
the 2013-14 school year, a child must be 5 years old on or before October 1.
For the 2014-2015 school year, a child must be 5 years old on or before
September 1.
JUNIOR
KINDERGARTEN BECOMES TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN 2012-2013
The
Junior Kindergarten program at Westlake Elementary will become Transitional
Kindergarten beginning in 2012-13. Transitional Kindergarten will be offered to
students who were born between September 2, 2007 and December 2, 2007, with priority
for the 2012-13 school year given to those whose birthdays are between November
2 and December 2. To apply for Transitional Kindergarten, you must complete a
School Choice Form.
There
will be Transitional Kindergarten Parent Information Meeting on Thursday,
