NEW! Time is running out to help Westlake Elementary earn more money! The School Cents program is wrapping up for the school year and the last day to turn in receipts from purchases at the Oaks Mall is Monday, April 30. In addition, the schools that log the most receipts this month have a chance to win a bonus prize of $100, $150 or $250! Receipts can be turned in at The Oaks Guest Services located upstairs next to the Cheesecake Factory or in the School Cents box in the front office.
Thank you to everyone who supported Direct Donation this school year. As of late March, 2012, we have raised $96,908.37! It was a successful year for Direct Donation and we want to thank everyone for their contribution and support. Thank you to those families who had matching donations from their employers. We received $10,488.02 in matching donations. There is no shortfall this year and we are happy to report that the children will continue to receive all of the specialists and programs the direct donation provides for through the rest of the school year. Thank you Westlake Elementary School families for your continued support for the children.
For those of you who missed the last PFA General Meeting, the Technology Committee proposed to spend $35,000 of the money from our technology fund before the start of next school year. The proposed amount will be spent on outfitting the school with 6 more SMART Boards and piloting 2 sets of SMART Responders. Many of the great events and improvements you see around our school are made possible by parent volunteers. Thank you to Paula Kissell for chairing the Mother Son Bowling and to the dads who volunteer to check people in and take pictures so that ALL moms can bowl with their sons. Thank you to Valerie Lambert for her work in beautifying our school, and to Christy Camp for coordinating our Earth Day Clean up and the Garden Project - Cal Water has designed a Water-wise Wizards' Garden that will
be installed just after the Mothers' Day Breakfast on May 8th. Local
Newspaper Press will be nearby, over the next few weeks, to document the
donation by Cal Water.
